Letter to my senators

Dear Senators Warner and Allen:

I was appalled to read today President Bush's remarks opposing the Senate's efforts to ban torture.

It is horrifying and disgraceful that we are even having this conversation; instead of being a beacon of hope and a champion of civil liberties, America is now equivocating about the definition of torture, while detaining large numbers of people indefinitely who have never had a trial and have little chance of getting one, not allowing them even to be seen by UN observers.

We are doing enormous damage to our reputation and our power to effect good in the world. (Not to mention that information gained from torture is of questionable value in the first place!)

I urge you to be at the forefront of the Senate's efforts to unequivocally ban torture or anything resembling it.

We shouldn't even have to pass a law like that, but it appears we do.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Rosenbaum

America has become as bad as the government our colonial forefathers overthrew. Only traitors would allow this to happen: https://www.mixposure.com/song.php?songid=14027.
